Description

The existing backup_client role cannot be used as such on Debian Stretch (the next stable, current testing) releases due to change in Duply and Duplicity configuration syntax for destination server.

Since Debian Stretch has entered a freeze, and provides many improvements over Debian Jessie, especially in terms of hardware support for laptops, it would be beneficial if a tweak was made to the Duply configuration file to detect when the role is deployed on Debian Jessie, and when on Debian Stretch, and to deploy correct syntax.

The following should be done:

  • Update backup_client configuration file for Duply so it can run on top of Debian Jessie.
  • Consider adding information about supported Debian versions to each role/general documentation.
  • Update role reference documentation.
