Description

In some cases mails coming from applications on different servers can end-up pointing to return address that does not exist. This would usually be an address that points to one of the domains handled by the mail server.

It would be useful if such undeliverable bounces are forward to the postmaster. This should help with situations where a mail is being sent-out by automated notification system (let's say for comment notifications) on servers that use smart relay (i.e. servers deployed with the mail_forwarder role).

The following should be done:

  • Option notify_classes should be set in /etc/postfix/main.cf to include the 2bounce value. This refers to double bounces (bounce mails that could not be delivered themselves).
