Description

The mail_server role uses ClamAV to scan both incoming and outgoing mail in an effort to catch the most obvious (known) malware that circulates the Internet. The default virus signature database is fairly limited, though.

It would be beneficial if some additional signatures were introduced from the clamav-unofficial-sigs package.

The following should be done:

  • Update the mail_server role.
    • Install and use the clamav-unofficial-sigs package for updating the unofficial/3rd-party malware signatures.
    • Update ClamAV configuration to take advantage of these additional signatures.
    • Update helper test machine that serves the malware signatures (depending on how the scripts from the package operate).
  • Update role reference documentation.
  • Update usage instructions.
  • Update release noets.
