Description

Since Python 2.7 is not maintained upstream any longer, support for it should be dropped from Majic Ansible Roles. However, this can be postponed as long as the Debian project still maintains Python 2.7 within its own repositories, or at the very least until all dependent projects have been ported over to Python 3.

The following should be done:

  • Drop support for Python 2.7 from the common role (primarily the pipreqcheck script).
  • Drop support for Python 2.7 from the wsgi_website role.
  • Determine if it is possible to purge all Python 2 packages from the servers (without affecting functionality).
  • Make sure all role tests are passing.
  • Make sure testsite deploys without problems.
  • Update role reference documentation.
  • Update usage instructions.
  • Update the release notes.
