Description

While the hping3 utility has proven to be immensely useful when testing connectivity, unfortunately it is no longer actively maintained, and more importantly does not have support for IPv6, which turned out to be required in a couple of test cases.

Some of the tests in the roles have already been updated to use nmap, which is usable for both IPv4 and IPv6, but there is still quite a number of tests depending on hping3.

The following should be done:

  • Update tests in all roles, replacing hping3 with nmap.
  • Update role reference documentation.
  • Update usage instructions.
  • Update release notes.
