Description

Upgrade from Debian 11 Bullseye to Debian 12 Bookworm also upgrades Prosody from version 0.11.x to version 0.12.x. While the configuration is backwards compatible (for now), it would be beneficial to revisit the Prosody server configuration and see if there are any improvements that could be introduced, or some additional new modules that are interesting that could be enabled.

The following should be done:

  • Update the xmpp_server role.
    • Get rid of unused configuration directives.
    • Get rid of deprecated options and modules.
    • Introduce additional configuration options if desirable to do so.
    • Introduce additional modules if desirable to do so.
  • Update role reference documentation.
  • Update usage instructions.
  • Update release notes.
